|
I'm considering importing direct from Quaife/UK their Helical LSD
The Quaife torque biasing differential enables your car to accelerate quicker and corner faster. The Quaife Differential powers both drive wheels under nearly all conditions, instead of just one. With an ordinary open differential, standard on most cars, a lot of precious power is wasted during wheelspin under acceleration. This happens because the open differential shifts power to the wheel with less grip (along the path of least resistance). The Quaife, however, does just the opposite. It senses which wheel has the better grip, and biases the power to that wheel. It does this smoothly and constantly, and without ever completely removing power from the other wheel.
Anyone else have this on their wish list? I think I can score these diffs for about $1400~1500NZ + ($200?) shipping / save further if more are ordered.
Alternativly my "mystery" mechanical racing diff currently in my track Z maybe up for sale next month...(It's a mechanical-prob clutch type / not really suitable for street use which is the reason for swap out) |

Hey Linc,
I havnt had any experiance with differential setups, so my knowledge is limited. I've yet to open it up to visually inspect.
However my mechanic whom helped pull the subframe / renew the diff bushings (and has only driven it on-road for testing) is fairly certain it's a 2-way. Hehe, I at least know no one in their right mind would fit up a detroit locker to a Z.
I've only run this diff once at Taupo, and it caught me out unawears first corner Lifting off or accelerating cause it to behave the same. It is a smooth transition if acceleration is maintained throughout - though suspect it is a clutch type. It is likly of Japanese brand/origin.
I just want something more suitable for the street, carpark manouevering, and dosnt sound clunky at low speed. |

This could go well with my "rattly" clutch (triple plate) ... zed symphony _________________ "Understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car and

It's certainly "musical" at low speed. Perhaps even embarassing going through a drive-through LOL!
Anyway I'll be pulling this diff out probably mid next month (if I can get storage at
the mechanics workshop for the duration.)
Will confirm as soon as I do. |

Well it seems my quote for the Quaife diff was a tad off...
Due to the limited run - the R230 300zx TT diffs are more expensive than the other Nissan diffs.
"diff price is $1750 nzd including freight to you (plus gst) $2012.50 total
this would come in our stock order and would be with you in about 3 weeks if order before Wednesday next week" |

If you are importing directly and this is for a stock order & there is more than one of you based on the "our" part of this who are people actually dealing with here?
A private forum member or a company pretending on the forum to be a private member?
I know there is one company out there trying to pass themselves off as being "the first and only company dedicated to the Z32 in NZ"
I'm not happy with that type of deception in the community I hope you would not stoop to these levels as well? _________________ https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Lab-Limited/116151441817924

No nothing so auspitious Glenn. You know I have no affiliation with P-Spec other than being a friend of the manager.
This is in the Business section - Pricing bears no marjin profit at my end. No deception whatsoever.
To order from Quaife (which is UK) I've since been told by them that I need to do so through palmside which is their NZ distributor.
Quaife distribute to palmside all their NZ orders.
My contact (source of that quotation) is Deane Buist at palmside.co.nz if anyone wants to clarify details/pricing. |
