I've recently acquired a 300zx and its in a bit strife. Considering the price I paid I knew it needed work. Anyway I am looking forward to learning more about these cars from you intelligent lot.
My first hiccup was buying new shock absorbers for it. I swear to the almighty that the rear ones just wont fit! is there a difference with the 2 and 4 seater shocks?
So far I've spent more on parts than the car itself lol, but it needed a major refresh after so many years. New parts will help with performance and reliability too.
I'll make a diary with photos of its progress. I'll get some up as soon as I figure out the photobucket account.

Hi MasonZ and Welcome

I'm just in the process of replacing my rear shocks, 1 down and 1 to go.

I'm fitting KYB shocks part number 341151 and they fit fine, I had to import some new strut boots from Z1 as the universal ones here wouldn't fit

Hi. I've just moved up to Auckland this year having lived in Dunedin for most of my twenties whilst studying.
So far I've met David Turner at Z parts Auto, chatted with the two Nates, and also mungyZ the Lab about getting the Z back to former glory.
I came across the site while trying to figure out an answer to install the shock absorbers. The rear shocks just wont bolt up to the underside of the car. As far as I can tell the bolt flange is wrong, so I'll get replacements sorted as a first priority.

If its at the top of the shock, you can take that bit off and replace it with whats on your current shocks.
If its at the bottom of the shock, are you sure the shocks are for a Z32 300zx?

2+2 shocks go into a 2+0 the same. I only noticed the spring coil winding slightly differed between the two.
