I would like input from everyone as to a document to post in the trading sections, about what buyers and sellers should expect in this forum. I'm basing it on the experiences of myself and 2 other people who have started their own businesses, and they types of customers we dealt with, and the expectations of those customers. Please note that this is not about the past, but about the future of trading with members of this forum.
Subject: NZ 300ZX Forum Trading Etiquette
------------------------------------------------
Buyers:
You are expected to pay 100% up front for any parts you buy off other members - we encourage sellers not to part with products until they have been paid for
Delivery is never part of the price unless discussed
You are expected to pay for work done to your car by any fellow forum member before you buy additional parts - if you have parts you want to order, settle any partial work costs to date with the fellow forum member first
Sellers:
Do not order products until they have been paid for - this should be standard practice for parts that cannot be returned
You are expected to show clear pictures of the parts you are trading, especially if the products are not new
Mechanics:
Do not advertise what you are not skilled in - the 300ZX is a complex vehicle with many worn out parts, and if you do not know what you are doing, you can cause some very expensive damage, or worse
Do not let your labour bill get too big - ask for incremental payments from new customers until they establish a reputation with you
Sour Dealings:
If you are having trouble with a fellow forum member, follow it up legally - this ensures that the forum member is quickly held accountable
Do not use this forum to name and shame unless there is a conviction for the incident in question - although it may be in your interest to protect others, our agreement with our forum host forbids this
The car scene can be cruel:
Ray Mullany was a car enthusiast who in late 2006 was convicted of ripping off the performance car scene, some say for over $200k - he became so notorious that his name would bring instant hate messages when his name was posted, and yet up until he was convicted, people were still giving him money. Get to know who you are trading with - if you are unsure, don't trade with them. _________________ Warning - lysdexia strikes without warning! |

I noticed on another forum a "Karma" box. Can we implement this so known and proven good people have good "Karma" ratings? Just an idea. +1 for ZFetsh _________________ Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you by experience |

Trust and caution is conflicting when dealing over the internet.
I once loved EBay - buy wont even browse it nowadays!
But looking at the future of trading with forum members - maybe we could have a "trader feedback section" Viewable only when logged in here by Sellers registered to this site could disclose their full details/contact info. Optional feedback following from any trading history much in the same manner as TradeMe does? ie Reassurances for future trading/vouching. |

| Reading your bit on Mechanics - a Mechanics section could be quite helpful as well. Let people know who in what areas are experienced in these cars and if anyone on here is or knows of any good mechanics to put people onto. |
