Lots of bad you tube videos. Has anyone done a conversion from stock fan to electric? Is it worth it? I see trade me sell sets with thermostats that bolt on to radiator.
Just curious as Ive heard the thermoviscous ones are a bit of a load.

Simply put: No Stock is proven to be best for z32

Would two be better than one big one? I was thinking of a two stage set up, but I doubt two would fit, and if smaller may not cover enough radiator area.

Are you overheating? Is your stock fan showing stress cracks? The stock shroud is designed to direct flow in a certain way. I'm unsure if you really want to go through redesigning shroud and ducting to aid cooling using an unknown dual fan setup.
Maybe easier to get a decent Howe or quality bigger drop-in Z32 specific radiator. I run a stock fan in a 600HP track car with no heat temp issues.

The stock system is adequate for the job, when the car was new. New was over 20 years ago.


If yours hasn't had all the water hoses and pump replaced then it shouldn't be pushed too hard. I lost an engine to the small hose that sits on top of the EGR valve burning through and blowing while the engine was under full boost

Anyways, this what I planned on doing to mine

Aftermarket aluminium radiator
Bypass under plenum rubber hoses with hardpipe
New viscous clutch for the fan
Ported and flowed water pump
Replace all other rubber hoses with good quality silicone hoses and T clamps
All new metal stone guards under the engine (The whole engine bay is flow designed to work as a whole. Any missing guards etc is going to distupt that flow

Bit of an old post, but generally theres not many you could source in NZ that would actually help.

Your standard fan pulls massive amounts of air, absolutely massive, so it would be a case of try and see, but I wouldn't bother with anything less than 3000cfm, but watch your temps closely!
