Hey Folks

My 2003 350z OEM battery gave up the ghost yesterday and I am wondering if there are any opinions on suitable replacements, is it worth the $400-500 for the Optima Red or Yellow top or are there some cheaper batteries that will do the job just as well?

Pretty impressed with the OEM battery and even though this isn't a daily driver 5-6 years is an awesome result.

Optima is overkill in a car/considering the price of them.
Dad had a Red Top Optima which lasted about 6years in a Primera.

Hi ya,
The stock batteries last really well (massive thread on my350z.com - some lasting up to 5-6 years - depending on mileage and usage). My Zed is on it's second battery now from the dealer. I can't remember exactly how much it was without digging through receipts. About $200 I think, not sure.

Also be careful when you take all the cowlings off & replace them. The two large cowlings that join to the window rubbers need to be butted right together in the centre - not the best of designs. You'll know what I mean when you start to attack the job. Cool

Can't comment on Optima's, not had one.

I got the super heavy duty ones from AA, they come and replace it for you and are very quick, no problems with fitting and removing those plastic bits, it also comes with a 3 year warranty! Free replacement if anything goes wrong.
It was just under $200 with AA membership. Definitely worth it.
