Thanks for the entertainment!
I agree with comments about bias in 'advertising' though. I really hate it when some manufacturer names and shames some other car/manufacturer in their ads.
If you can't highlight the best points in your own vehicle without slanging at someone else then...
mums have it right I guess. If you can't say something nice don't say anything?

| Yeah inliners are not all that bad. Of course you have the disadvantage of more space being needed and maybe not as close mounted to the middle of the car. That Inline6 might even be a lil bit heavier... but who said that can't work as good in a performance car? It's more about how you engineer that damn thing |

Good to know. But that's more because how the engine is designed, not because it's an inline6 in general I would say (my opinion). Tester questioned alot the inline6 in a high performance car in general. Maybe it's because he didn't know that there was a NISSAN called skyline. They didn't sell them in America
I'd really like to know how they achieved a stunning 6.something (0-60) with both cars tho. Quarter mile was breathtaking as well. Any idea? I mean that guy is a race driver! Any idea? |

Don't confuse stock Mk4 Supra's with tuned Supra's - absolutely worlds apart. I have a mate running a Mk4 Supra in the 9's, and a mate running a Mk3 Supra with basically a Mk4 Supra engine, also in the 9's - they make power very easily, but the test wasn't about that.
I've had many Mk4 Supra people I TRUST tell me that the Supra's inline 6 is a bit sluggish off the line compared to the Z32, less torque down low, which seemed to match to what the article was saying - go to dragtimes.com and check out the people running about 12.1ET, and the first 60ft is consistently quicker in a Z32 than a Mk4 Supra. |

That's true tho, I can't compare any Toyota commercials so they could possibly be worse. Maybe it's as well the time back then... I know it's better to just move on and don't worry about it, but I straight away posted it here after I saw it, something just made me pissed off watching it. Anyway, back to off-topic |

Nothing taken seriously mate
The real argument:
Have you ever worked on Toyota? they just don't think it through - they will have a part that could be soooo easy to replace but then they just chuck all this crap in the way with out any thought going in to it
Anyone who has to delay the release date of a car so they can improve it enough to even compete with the market is just sad.
Sorry but why wasn't it good enough the first time round? perhaps because Toyota just copy designs from other manufacturers & tweak them then market as there own.
Seriously I don't think the Supra is all that bad - that's why there are some invited to the Oct track day
But as said they had to hold off the release date - it's like turning up at a fancy dress party, seeing what everyone else is wearing, then ducking home to copy but improve on other costumes you checked out, then turning up late & expecting praise from the others
Maybe Nissans advert was just a stab at the whole Toyota mentality - maybe there were some smart arsed comments between the head fellas at Nissan & at Toyota. This may have lead to a subtle "we can play BS too!" advertising campaign. Have you seen any of Toyotas adverts from that era? maybe you should go have a look there is most likely something we are missing here.
Most of the comments here will be waaaay more biased than the advert & no doubt you are smart enough to figure that out.
Personally I think the advert is fine - when taken in context & compared to what everyone does when advertising (mashed potato standing in for ice cream anyone??!) |

Actually they are, but I'm not a mind reader! Of course the thing is from Nissan, thats EXACTLY the reason why I don't understand the whole thing. I mean, who would state the tests were from an independent company and then use their own people in the testing agency? Hello? That's what it's all about. And those comments of that guy are not clever either!
Don't think the Z is such a bad car that you basically run out of real arguments for the car and therefore talk about all the problems of the other. "Something bothers me about I6" WTF! Just really sad to see that's all.
I know you don't like the supra that was hard to ignore, but you can't deny that it was one of the main competitors when it came out. And it could compete in some way! So if the supra is such a POS, the Z must be not much better either, keeping in mind that it could JUST outperform the Frog!

You're welcome! Of course you can write whatever you want I'm not here to rule that anyway (don't tell me you took my last replies soo seriously) I was just tryin to get some real arguments out of you. I still don't know why the supra sucks so badly. Cause it's so tight inside and so big from the outside? Cause you feel like you're trapped inside? That's it? |

so comments like " the supra is a POS so it doesn't mater a flying toss if the video is biased" aren't allowed??? that is what the bulk of the replies actually said in context.
The whole thing is an advert made by Nissan - can you not see that at the end? do you really expect it to not be slightly biased?
It's made by Nissan FFS & they haven't tried to hide that they put there fricken name on at the end of it!!
I guess this comment should be logged under section A of the reply rules for this thread - but then that is a no brainer and most of us probably just concluded that then went on with conversation of Supra vs Zed.
I'm sorry for the lack of thought on behalf of the other posters & myself ...
NOTE: to myself & others intellectual discussions not directly & immediately related to subject mater of original post may result in the age old cry of "this is off topic!!!" - this will then in turn bring about the reply of "your post is off topic" - the chain reaction of these events will lead to interplanetary war with the "smart thinkers" class of planets - this will result in the complete destruction of our planet & all who reside on it.
ALSO OF NOT: the Supra sucks!

lol Andy dishing out the firepower.
What he meant was that how good/bad a supra compared to the Z isn't that important. It's just depressing to see a review filmed in such a biased way, even though it's for the Z which we love. The lack of mentioning about the Z's draw backs and the total disregard of why the Supra is still a legend to this day is not acceptable. It will be very very sad to know if Nissan was behind the so called "independent testing" as another form of advertisement. |
